Even Without Wings is written and designed by yours truly, Jil.
I am a twenty-nine year old girl living on the east coast of Canada in the city of Dartmouth, located across the harbour from Halifax in Nova Scotia. You can find me in various places on the web (Instagram, facebook, twitter, deviantart, YouTube) but this blog is where I call home.
I am a symphonic metal connoisseur, a paranormal junkie, a horror movie snob, a cat lover (I have three fur babies), an art nerd, an avid reader, and a Spoonie. I consider myself gothicly inclined, as I have a taste for the dark and macabre side of things, but don’t always dress the part. I’m newly single and am taking on the dating world again after a long time away.
I live with depression and anxiety (though well controlled), Functional Neurological Disorder also known as “Conversion Disorder” (which is a psychiatric term with much stigma attached), Interstitial Cystitis (IC) or “Painful Bladder Syndrome”, Fibromyalgia (FMS), and Long QT Syndrome (LQTS) also known as “Prolonged QT Interval” from the medications I’ve been on over the years. I am also experiencing symptoms that do not fit any of those diagnoses and as of this writing are currently un-diagnosed. I also previously suffered from Non-Epileptic Seizures (PNES), which preceded the FND as if a cruel portent of what was to come. For more information on the above illnesses, please see the page entitled “conditions”.
Little did I know that when my health took a turn and I began experiencing symptoms that doctors could not explain that I would be looked upon as though I was faking my illness, and wasting their time. Or, that the doctors would tell me my conditions were ‘all in my head’ and therefore imaginary. This blog is my life and day to day struggles with these ‘imaginary’ ailments, and the doctors who ‘treat’ them, all while trying to remain positive in the face of chronic invisible illness.
If you’d like to contact me for any reason, please do so by leaving a comment on the blog itself, or by emailing me directly HERE. You can also find my other little niches on the internet by clicking the links above the header, or by clicking HERE. Thanks for reading!
